Leading ride-hailing company, Bolt, has introduced a discounted health insurance scheme for drivers operating on its platform. In a statement to Technext, the company said the scheme was in partnership with Bastion Health Limited, a Health Maintenance Organisation (HMO) in Nigeria.

With the partnership, Bolt says it wants to provide affordable and accessible health insurance packages for its driver-partners across Nigeria, reinforcing the company’s commitment to improving driver welfare and long-term sustainability within the ride-hailing ecosystem.

Speaking on the partnership, Head of Regulatory and Policy, Africa, Weyinmi Aghadiuno said the mobility ecosystem is only as healthy as the drivers who power it, thus the need to make quality healthcare more accessible.

Driver wellbeing is critical to the long-term health of the mobility ecosystem. This partnership with Bastion Health is designed to make quality healthcare more accessible and affordable for drivers, helping them protect their health while continuing to earn on the platform. By negotiating group benefits for drivers, we’re able to lower barriers to healthcare access and create meaningful support for our driver community,” she said.

More on Bolt’s health insurance

The initiative is part of Bolt’s broader effort to support the well-being of the thousands of drivers who rely on the platform as a source of income.

The partnership with Bastion Health introduces a specially designed health insurance offering tailored to the needs of independent driver-partners who typically do not have access to traditional employer-sponsored health coverage. Through the collaboration, drivers will be able to access discounted health plans under a pooled programme, with the flexibility to choose coverage for themselves as well as their dependents.

The health plans combine affordability, flexibility, and access to quality healthcare services. Unlike traditional retail health insurance packages, the Bolt driver pool model allows drivers to access discounted premiums and enhanced benefits without the long waiting periods that often apply to individual plans.

Through Bastion Health’s digitally integrated insurance platform, drivers will also be able to access a seamless experience, from awareness and enrollment to plan management, making it easier for them to sign up and use the service.

Bolt noted that improving access to healthcare for driver-partners can also contribute to safer roads by enabling drivers to better manage their health and well-being.

The company added that the initiative forms part of a broader set of programmes aimed at supporting drivers through partnerships that deliver financial, safety, and wellbeing benefits.

As the gig economy continues to expand across Nigeria, Bolt said it remains committed to working with partners to develop practical solutions that address the real needs of driver-partners while strengthening the sustainability of the mobility ecosystem.

The company also pointed out that access to the health insurance plans is available to drivers enrolled in its rewards program. Eligibility is extended across tiers of the reward system from Bronze to Diamond. This, the company says, ensures that active drivers on the platform can benefit from the offering, without additional standalone conditions beyond participation in the Bolt Rewards programme.

Michael Saylor Pushes Digital Capital Narrative At Bitcoin Treasuries Unconference

The post Michael Saylor Pushes Digital Capital Narrative At Bitcoin Treasuries Unconference appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. The suitcoiners are in town.  From a low-key, circular podium in the middle of a lavish New York City event hall, Strategy executive chairman Michael Saylor took the mic and opened the Bitcoin Treasuries Unconference event. He joked awkwardly about the orange ties, dresses, caps and other merch to the (mostly male) audience of who’s-who in the bitcoin treasury company world.  Once he got onto the regular beat, it was much of the same: calm and relaxed, speaking freely and with confidence, his keynote was heavy on the metaphors and larger historical stories. Treasury companies are like Rockefeller’s Standard Oil in its early years, Michael Saylor said: We’ve just discovered crude oil and now we’re making sense of the myriad ways in which we can use it — the automobile revolution and jet fuel is still well ahead of us.  Established, trillion-dollar companies not using AI because of “security concerns” make them slow and stupid — just like companies and individuals rejecting digital assets now make them poor and weak.  “I’d like to think that we understood our business five years ago; we didn’t.”  We went from a defensive investment into bitcoin, Saylor said, to opportunistic, to strategic, and finally transformational; “only then did we realize that we were different.” Michael Saylor: You Come Into My Financial History House?! Jokes aside, Michael Saylor is very welcome to the warm waters of our financial past. He acquitted himself honorably by invoking the British Consol — though mispronouncing it, and misdating it to the 1780s; Pelham’s consolidation of debts happened in the 1750s and perpetual government debt existed well before then — and comparing it to the gold standard and the future of bitcoin. He’s right that Strategy’s STRC product in many ways imitates the consols; irredeemable, perpetual debt, issued at par, with…
