AVAX Technical Analysis Feb 9

AVAX is approaching the oversold region with RSI at 31.32, momentum is weakening; MACD’s negative histogram confirms the downtrend and positioning below EMA20 emphasizes short-term bearish pressure.

Trend Status and Momentum Analysis

AVAX is currently trading at the $9.06 level and showing a slight 0.55% decline over the last 24 hours. The daily range was between $8.72-$9.26, while volume is hovering around $191.56 million, indicating moderate participation compared to previous periods. The overall trend direction is downward; the price remains below EMA20 ($10.46) and the Supertrend indicator is also giving a bearish signal, with resistance at $11.35 standing out. From a momentum perspective, the indicators predominantly reflect selling pressure, but the RSI’s low level leaves the door open for a potential rebound. In this context, we can say that short-term momentum is weak while medium-term trend strength is eroding. Volume confirmation is still insufficient for a strong reversal; the increase in volume during declines reinforces the sellers’ dominance.

RSI Indicator: Buy or Sell?

RSI Divergence Analysis

The 14-period RSI value is at 31.32, which is quite close to the oversold region (below 30). While the price fell to $8.72 in recent lows, the RSI is forming a higher low at this level, which can be interpreted as a bullish hidden divergence signal, the opposite of a regular bear divergence. A regular bull divergence is not yet clear because while the price is making new lows, the RSI is also hovering at similar lows; however, if a divergence forms in this proximity, upward momentum acceleration could follow. On the daily chart, RSI is stuck below the 50 level and showing consolidation between the 40-30 band; this indicates that selling momentum is slowing. The weekly RSI is around 45 and exhibiting a downward bias consistent with the overall trend, with the absence of divergence showing that bears maintain control. In the short term, if RSI drops below 30, panic selling could be triggered, but the current level should be monitored as a potential bounce point.

Overbought/Oversold Regions

RSI at 31.32 is at the oversold threshold; historically, AVAX has seen 10-20% pullbacks or rebound buys after these levels. With the overbought region (70+) distant for now, an exit from oversold toward the 40 level could confirm a momentum shift. Supporting oscillators like Stochastic are also at low levels (around 20%) and awaiting a crossover; this confluence suggests that selling pressure is nearing its peak.

MACD Signals and Histogram Dynamics

The MACD indicator is in a bearish position; the signal line is below the MACD line and the histogram is expanding in the negative zone. The size of the histogram bars has increased in recent days, indicating downward momentum acceleration – a clear confirmation of the downtrend strengthening. The signal line crossover has completed downward and the tendency to stay below the zero line persists. On the daily chart, the MACD (12,26,9) histogram is around -0.25 and showing deeper negativity compared to previous bars, emphasizing selling momentum. However, the histogram’s expansion rate is slowing, which could be an early warning that bears are starting to exhaust. The weekly MACD also shows a similar bearish structure; upward confluence will remain weak unless the signal line resistance is broken. Overall, MACD dynamics dominate short-to-medium-term sell signals.

EMA Systems and Trend Strength

Short-Term EMAs

The price is trading below EMA20 ($10.46), clearly indicating a short-term bearish trend. There is a squeeze in the EMA10 and EMA50 ribbon; as long as the price stays below the ribbon, momentum remains under downward pressure. The EMA10’s downward slope is accelerating, and even the price approaching this EMA triggers sales – short-term trend strength score is low.

Medium/Long-Term EMA Supports

EMA50 (around $11.20) and EMA200 (around $13.50) stand as distant supports; a drop to these levels could trigger a medium-term trend breakdown. EMA ribbon dynamics are contracting, signaling reduced trend strength and consolidation ahead of a potential expansion (up or down). Long-term EMAs are downward sloping and weakening their support role; recovery will remain limited without volume confirmation. Bitcoin Correlation

Bitcoin is at the $70,421 level with a 0.81% decline over 24 hours in a downtrend; main supports at $68,840, $62,910, and $46,060. BTC Supertrend is giving a bearish signal and rising dominance poses risk for altcoins. AVAX shows high correlation with BTC (0.85+); if BTC breaks $68,840 support, a quick drop to $8.86 is expected for AVAX. Conversely, if BTC surpasses $72,017 resistance, it opens room for AVAX to move to $10.01 – prioritize monitoring BTC movements.

Momentum Outcome and Expectations

Overall momentum is bearish; RSI’s oversold approach combined with MACD’s negative histogram and positioning below EMA creates confluence for bear signals. In the short term, $8.86 support is critical; a breakdown activates bearish targets toward $7.55; recovery remains weak unless $10.01 resistance is surpassed. Without volume increase, RSI divergence stays weak, trend strength downward. In the medium term, BTC correlation is decisive; while momentum oscillators sustain selling pressure, oversold bounce probability is around 30%. Expectations are sideways movement or slight decline at confluence-supported levels; a strong volume-backed bull crossover is awaited. MTF confluence shows 10 strong levels (1D:3S/2R, 3D:1S/3R, 1W:2S/4R), emphasizing the need to prepare for volatility.
