What is the most widely used blockchain in 2025?

BNB Chain holds the top position as the most widely used blockchain in 2025, with an average of 4.32 million daily active wallets. Data from CryptoRank and TokenTerminal shows this metric far exceeds competitors like Solana and NEAR. Retail users prioritize BNB Chain’s low fees and seamless onboarding, sustaining activity through market volatility and regulatory pressures on Binance.

How does BNB Chain outperform Ethereum, Solana, and NEAR in daily active wallets?

BNB Chain’s lead stems from its focus on cost-efficiency and accessibility. While Ethereum attracts institutions with its security, Solana excels in transaction speed at 3.23 million daily wallets, and NEAR follows closely at 3.15 million, BNB Chain’s 4.32 million average reflects broader retail engagement. CryptoRank data indicates BNB Chain processed over 25% more active interactions daily in Q4 2025. This edge persists despite Binance’s legal battles, as users value practical features over headlines. Changpeng Zhao, Binance co-founder, noted on X, “Keep building. 2026 will be awesome!” underscoring ecosystem momentum. TokenTerminal metrics further confirm BNB Chain’s highest wallet retention, with users returning 15% more frequently than on Solana.

Institutions are shifting dynamics elsewhere. The CoinGlass 2025 Crypto Derivatives Market Annual Report details an $85.70 trillion market, with $264.5 billion in daily volume. CME Group has overtaken Binance in Bitcoin futures and narrowed the Ethereum futures gap, signaling regulated platforms’ rise. Crypto-native exchanges like OKX, Bybit, and Bitget maintain strength through liquidity.

BNB token reflects this resilience, trading at $843.27 with a 0.55% gain amid stagnant markets. Binance’s leadership evolution bolsters confidence: co-founder Yi He joined Richard Teng as Co-CEO, emphasizing compliance and user focus. Yi He’s tenure prioritizes sustainable growth, moving beyond aggressive expansion.

UK FCA Plans to Waive Some Rules for Crypto Companies: FT

The post UK FCA Plans to Waive Some Rules for Crypto Companies: FT appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. The U.K.’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has plans to waive some of its rules for cryptocurrency companies, according to a Financial Times (FT) report on Wednesday. However, in another areas the FCA intends to tighten the rules where they pertain to industry-specific risks, such as cyber attacks. The financial watchdog wishes to adapt its existing rules for financial service companies to the unique nature of cryptoassets, the FT reported, citing a consultation paper published Wednesday. “You have to recognize that some of these things are very different,” David Geale, the FCA’s executive director for payments and digital finance, said in an interview, according to the report, adding that a “lift and drop” of existing traditional finance rules would not be effective with crypto. One such area that may be handled differently is the stipulation that a firm “must conduct its business with integrity” and “pay due regard to the interest of its customers and treat them fairly.” Crypto companies would be given less strict requirements than banks or investment platforms on rules concerning senior managers, systems and controls, as cryptocurrency firms “do not typically pose the same level of systemic risk,” the FCA said. Firms would also not have to offer customers a cooling off period due to the voltatile nature of crypto prices, nor would technology be classed as an outsourcing arrangement requiring extra risk management. This is because blockchain technology is often permissionless, meaning anyone can participate without the input of an intermediary. Other areas of crypto regulation remain undecided. The FCA has plans to fully integrate cryptocurrency into its regulatory framework from 2026.
