ATOME PHILIPPINES has closed a P5-billion wholesale credit facility with Asia United Bank Corp. (AUB) to fund its continued expansion.

Proceeds will mainly be used to expand the Atome PayLater Anywhere Card, which it said has been issued to over three million Filipinos to date. The loan facility also adds a peso-denominated line to its funding base.

“The closing of AUB’s P5-billion facility validates Atome’s market position and delivers competitive, PHP (Philippine peso)-denominated funding at meaningful scale,” Atome Philippines President and Country Manager Christian Quiros said in a statement on Thursday. “Built on AUB’s deep understanding of our credit profile, this facility strengthens our ability to grow while diversifying our funding mix with competitive local capital. It supports the Philippine economy and our mission to responsibly serve millions of underbanked Filipinos seeking accessible financial tools.”

“The credit facility reflects AUB’s commitment to supporting responsible fintech platforms that strengthen the Philippine financial ecosystem,” AUB Executive Vice-President and IT and Operations Head Wilfredo E. Rodriguez, Jr. said.

Atome Philippines said up to 80% of Atome PayLater Anywhere Card users are first-time cardholders, with 65% being women. It added that majority use their cards for groceries, food, household items, telco and utility bill payments.

Aside from the card, it also offers lending, savings, and insurance products.

Atome Philippines is part of Singapore-headquartered Advance Intelligence Group’s wallet platform Atome Financial, which is backed by investors including SoftBank Vision Fund 2 and Warburg Pincus.

In 2025, Atome Financial’s annualized net revenue breached $500 million, supported by an annualized gross merchandise value of $6 billion. — Aaron Michael C. Sy
