We have already seen several teams call up some of their best prospects to provide reinforcements. Some have struggled out of the gate, but others are working their way into becoming viable fantasy options. Let’s hit the waiver wire heading into Week 11 and highlight five players to consider adding who are still available in the majority of Yahoo leagues.
Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Targets For Week 11
Travis Bazzana, 2B, Cleveland Guardians (46% rostered)
Bazzana was included in this column last week. At the time, he was rostered in 43% of Yahoo leagues. He might not be eligible for this column for much longer, given how productive he continues to be. Over his last 14 games, he is 21-for-55 (.382) with two home runs and five doubles. After showing a good eye at the plate in the minors, he has a 13.3% walk rate and a 16.8% strikeout rate since being called up. Add in his seven steals over 27 games and he should be rostered in more leagues.
Jared Jones, SP, Pittsburgh Pirates (44% rostered)
Jones has been working his way back from elbow surgery. He threw at least four innings in each of his last three rehab outings, and he has racked up at least five strikeouts in three of his five appearances. Once a highly regarded prospect, Jones has a career 3.98 xERA, 1.19 WHIP, and 26.2% strikeout rate in the majors. Jones will start for the Pirates on Friday, so now is the time to grab him off the waiver wire.
Seth Lugo, SP, Kansas City Royals (40% rostered)
Lugo has a 5.17 xERA, but his actual ERA is much better at 3.74. While it might seem like regression is coming, this is not a new trend for him. For his career, he has a 3.50 ERA despite having a 4.13 xERA. He has only allowed 0.4 HR/9 this season, which helps to offset his 1.38 WHIP. His WHIP should also improve as the season moves along because opponents have a .332 BABIP against him. For his career, he has given up a .286 BABIP. While not a flashy option, Lugo can still help stabilize the back end of a fantasy rotation.
Ryan Waldschmidt, OF, Arizona Diamondbacks (29% rostered)
The Diamondbacks selected Waldschmidt in the first round of the 2024 Draft. He rose quickly through the minors, reaching Triple-A this season. Across 34 games at the level, he posted a .877 OPS. That earned him a call to the big leagues, and he is batting .302 with a .346 wOBA over his first 19 games. It’s also important to note his five stolen bases. Last year, he had 29 steals across his various stops in the minors. He can hit for average and steal bases, making him worth adding in 12-team leagues.
Sam Antonacci, OF, Chicago White Sox (20% rostered)
If your fantasy squad needs home runs, then Antonacci is not someone to consider adding. However, if you need someone who can hit for a high average and steal bases, then he should be on your radar. Over 116 games in the minors last season, he hit .291 with 48 stolen bases and a 14.1% strikeout rate. After a quick stop at Triple-A to begin this season, he has now appeared in 39 games for the White Sox. The initial results have been encouraging with him batting .286 with a .351 wOBA, seven stolen bases, and a 14.7% strikeout rate. While he has been playing in the outfield, he is also eligible at second base and third base on Yahoo, making him an even more appealing option to add.
Takeaway
Bazzana, Waldschmidt, and Antonacci have immediately made an impact since being called up from the minors, making themselves worth adding in most fantasy leagues. Jones’ scheduled return from injury makes him one of the top pitchers to consider adding, while Lugo can also provide steady value.
