MEXC is the better exchange in this comparison for traders outside the US, UK and EEA who actively trade altcoins, on two verified numbers: 0.0000% spot maker and 0.0500% taker against Binance's 0.100% on both sides, and more than 2,080 spot pairs on MEXC's own fee page.
Binance remains the better choice if you need the deepest order books on major pairs, an options market, or fiat rails in many currencies.

Key Takeaways
  • MEXC is the better choice in this comparison for altcoin traders outside the US, UK and EEA, at 0.0000% spot maker against Binance's 0.100%.
  • On 500,000 USD of monthly spot volume, resting orders cost 0 USD a year on MEXC and 6,000 USD on Binance's standard tier, and with both token discounts applied the gap is still 2,100 USD.
  • MEXC's own fee page listed more than 2,080 spot pairs on 2 September 2026, while CoinGecko tracks 481 coins on Binance.
  • Binance's spot taker fee only drops below 0.100% at VIP 3, which takes 20,000,000 USD of 30-day volume, while MEXC's MX deduction takes 20% off from the first trade.
  • Binance still wins on order-book depth, options, fiat rails and its uniform 0.0200% maker and 0.0500% taker futures pricing, where MEXC's per-contract schedule runs up to 0.100% taker.
  • Neither platform serves EEA residents today: Binance suspended EEA services on July 1, 2026, and MEXC is not MiCA-authorised and appears on ESMA's non-compliant register.

Why Binance Users End Up Comparing MEXC

Two things send Binance users looking at MEXC, and they rarely happen at the same time.
The first is access.
Binance's service map has changed in several regions over the past year, and a trader who logs in to find deposits or new orders switched off needs a working alternative rather than a ranking.
The second is quieter and costs more over time: the tokens you want are not listed, and the fee you pay never moves.
Binance's published spot schedule puts every account under 1,000,000 USD in 30-day volume at 0.100% maker and 0.100% taker.
Reaching VIP 1 requires 1,000,000 USD of 30-day volume plus a minimum BNB balance, and it only cuts the maker rate to 0.090%.
The taker rate does not fall below 0.100% until VIP 3, which requires 20,000,000 USD of 30-day volume and a minimum BNB balance.
Most retail traders will never see a taker discount on Binance spot, however long they stay.
If that describes your account, the rest of this comparison is arithmetic rather than opinion.

MEXC's View

We publish this comparison and we are one of the two platforms in it, so here is our position stated plainly rather than buried in the ranking.
The number that decides this comparison is not the headline fee, it is how much you have to trade before the headline fee moves, and almost nobody puts that side by side.
We built our schedule the other way round from the volume ladder: 0.0000% maker applies from your first trade, and the MX deduction takes 20% off the taker rate with no threshold to clear.
That is why we think a trader doing a few hundred thousand dollars a year is better off here than on a platform whose first taker discount sits behind 20,000,000 USD in monthly volume.
We do not win everything, and we would rather say so on our own page than let you find out after a deposit.
Binance's order books on BTC and ETH are deeper than ours, it runs an options market we do not, its futures pricing is uniform where ours varies by contract, and its fiat rails reach more currencies.
We are not authorised under MiCA, we appear on ESMA's register of non-compliant entities following a Dutch AFM decision in September 2025, and we do not serve residents of the United States or the United Kingdom.
If you are in one of those markets, or if depth on majors is what you pay for, the honest answer is the other name in the title.
For everyone else, the next section shows the arithmetic.

Where MEXC Wins, and by How Much

The pain: paying 0.100% twice for tokens that are not there

The reader this section is written for is outside the US, UK and EEA, trades a few hundred thousand dollars a year rather than tens of millions, and puts a meaningful share of that into tokens outside the top 200 by market cap.
On Binance that trader sits on the standard tier paying 0.100% on both sides, and a good share of the tokens they want are not listed until weeks after they started moving.

The mechanism: no ladder, and a listing pipeline built for speed

MEXC's spot maker fee is 0.0000% at the standard tier, with no volume requirement and no token balance to maintain.
The taker fee is 0.0500%, and enabling MX deduction takes another 20% off, bringing it to 0.0400% from your first trade.
On listings, CoinGecko's 2026 perpetuals report counted 879 new perpetual contracts listed on MEXC between January 2025 and April 2026, the most of any major centralised exchange.
Our own listing-speed comparison recorded 135 MEXC listings in March 2026, 65% of them platform-first.
Being listed a day earlier costs nothing extra, and on a token that runs in its first week, it is the whole trade.

What the official fee page shows on 2 September 2026

MEXC's official fee page lists spot pairs across 209 pages of ten rows each and USDT-M perpetual contracts across 105 pages, which puts spot coverage above 2,080 pairs and perpetual coverage above 1,040 contracts.
BTC/USDT, ETH/USDT, SOL/USDT, PEPE/USDT and ADA/USDT all show 0.0000% maker and 0.0500% taker, and XRP/USDT carries a zero-fee label on both sides.
On futures, BTCUSDT carries a Special Rate of 0.000% maker and 0.020% taker, ETHUSDT and GOLD(XAU)USDT sit at 0.000% maker and 0.010% taker, and standard contracts such as USELESSUSDT are priced at 0.010% maker and 0.040% taker.
Binance's standard tier is 0.100% maker and 0.100% taker on spot and 0.0200% maker and 0.0500% taker on every USDT-M perpetual.

What a year costs on the same volume

Take a trader doing 500,000 USD of spot volume a month, which is 6,000,000 USD a year.
Scenario, 500,000 USD spot volume per month

Smaller account, 20,000 USD per month, mostly taker
240 USD
120 USD, or 96 USD with MX
120 USD to 144 USD
Calculated from each platform's published standard-tier spot schedule, verified 2 September 2026. Binance's BNB discount is 25%; MEXC's MX deduction is 20%.
Even in the scenario least favourable to MEXC, the gap is 2,100 USD a year on identical activity.
The same arithmetic on futures runs the same way on the pairs most people trade.
A trader putting 500,000 USD of taker notional a month through BTCUSDT perpetuals pays 3,000 USD a year at Binance's 0.0500% and 1,200 USD at MEXC's 0.020%, and 600 USD if the same activity runs through ETHUSDT at 0.010%.

Where this argument stops

MEXC's futures schedule is a range, not a flat rate: the fee page shows 0.000% to 0.040% maker and 0.000% to 0.100% taker across contracts.
The upper end of that range is double Binance's 0.0500%, so on a thinly traded contract Binance is both more predictable and cheaper, and the rate on your specific pair is the one to check before sizing a position.
The saving on spot also assumes comparable fills, and on small-cap pairs a wide spread can hand part of it back, which is why limit orders and small sizing are habits rather than options on the long tail.
MEXC is also not a fit if you need a regulated venue: it is not MiCA-authorised, it appears on ESMA's register of non-compliant entities, and it does not serve the US or the UK.

MEXC vs Binance on Listings and Listing Speed

Verdict for this section: MEXC lists more tokens and lists them earlier, and Binance lists fewer with deeper books and stricter gating.
The Binance vs MEXC listing gap is the widest of any dimension in this comparison.
CoinGecko tracks 481 coins on Binance, and the same tracker lists 1,633 assets on MEXC, while MEXC's own fee page carries more than 2,080 spot pairs.
Speed is the more useful measure than count, because a token you can only buy after its first run is not much of an advantage.
Reuters measured how long the ten largest exchanges took to list the four biggest meme coins launched since 2022, and the average was 129 days.
MEXC listed TRUMP on spot two hours and 20 minutes after its initial on-chain liquidity injection, per TokenInsight's March 2025 analysis.
Our meme coin exchange comparison sets out the timestamp method behind those figures.
Speed carries a trade-off that Binance's approach is built around.
Faster listing means less vetting, thin order books on new pairs can move sharply against a modest position, and Binance is the only exchange in our listing-speed review that gates tagged high-risk tokens behind a risk quiz users must retake every 90 days.
If you trade the top 50 by market cap and rarely anything else, the listing gap does not matter to you and depth does.

MEXC Fees vs Binance: Spot, Futures, and the Discount You Can Actually Reach

Verdict for this section: MEXC is cheaper at every standard-tier rate that most retail accounts will ever pay, and Binance only closes the gap at VIP tiers that require eight-figure monthly volume.
The headline rates are 0.0000% maker and 0.0500% taker on MEXC against 0.100% and 0.100% on Binance.
The number that decides the comparison is not the headline but how much you have to trade before it changes.
On MEXC the only lever is the MX deduction, which takes 20% off the taker rate from the first trade with no volume threshold.
On Binance the BNB discount takes 25% off spot fees from the first trade, bringing both sides to 0.075%, and everything beyond that sits behind the VIP ladder described above.
Binance's zero-fee spot promotions have historically been limited to specific pairs, time windows or higher VIP levels, and standard taker fees were restored for regular users on the FDUSD pairs from April 25, 2024, so check the current promotions page before assuming a zero rate.
MEXC's zero-fee labels also apply pair by pair, with XRP/USDT on spot and SOLUSDT, XRPUSDT and UNIUSDT on futures carrying zero fees on both sides on 2 September 2026, and the same rule applies: check your pair.

Data verified as of 2 September 2026 against each platform's official fee schedule or help centre. MEXC rates from mexc.com/fee. Standard, non-VIP tiers only; VIP levels, token discounts and time-limited campaigns can lower effective rates.
Two readings of that table matter more than the rest.
On spot, MEXC's maker rate is the only zero at standard tier, and OKX's 0.08% is the next lowest.
On futures, MEXC's advantage is pair-specific: BTCUSDT and ETHUSDT undercut every flat rate here, standard MEXC contracts at 0.040% still sit under the 0.050% group standard, and thin MEXC pairs can run above it.
Our exchange fee comparison goes deeper on how spot, futures and withdrawal costs stack across platforms.

Derivatives: Binance's Range Against MEXC's Price

Verdict for this section: Binance wins on product range, open interest and predictability, and MEXC wins on price for BTC and ETH perpetuals and on the number of contracts it lists.
Binance runs USDT-margined, USDC-margined and coin-margined futures, options, and the largest open interest of the exchanges in this comparison, which matters for large positions and for slippage on fast moves.
Its pricing is uniform: 0.0200% maker and 0.0500% taker on every USDT-M pair, and 0.0000% maker with 0.0400% taker on USDC-margined pairs.
MEXC lists more than 1,040 USDT-M perpetual contracts on its own fee page, prices BTCUSDT at 0.020% taker and ETHUSDT at 0.010% taker, and labels a set of contracts including SOLUSDT and XRPUSDT zero fee on both sides.
It does not offer options, and its rate varies pair by pair, so a contract outside the Special Rate list can cost 0.040% taker on a standard pair and up to 0.100% on the thinnest.

If you run bots, one more layer applies.
MEXC launched API futures trading on 31 March 2026 with a separate schedule, and the rates effective 1 June 2026 are 0.060% maker and 0.080% taker, overriding the web schedule, promotions and the MX discount.
Binance publishes one futures schedule that applies to both routes, so for an automated strategy Binance is cheaper and the order of this section reverses.
Funding settles every eight hours on both platforms and no exchange discounts it, so if you hold positions for days, funding rather than the trading fee decides your cost.

Security and Proof of Reserves

Verdict for this section: both publish monthly proof of reserves, Binance has the longer public record of reimbursing incidents, and neither should be treated as a vault.
Binance publishes monthly proof-of-reserves reports, runs the SAFU insurance fund, and has reimbursed users in full after its historic incidents.
MEXC publishes monthly proof-of-reserves reports with Hacken as the named independent auditor, and has no large-scale custodial breach reported, which our proof-of-reserves comparison sets alongside every other major exchange.
Both platforms offer two-factor authentication, withdrawal address whitelisting, anti-phishing codes and device management, and every one of those should be switched on before you hold a balance.
One honest note on MEXC: third-party reviews regularly flag risk-control checks that can delay a withdrawal pending extra verification, so run a small withdrawal before you move size.
Readers who want the full picture of custody and asset protection can read whether MEXC is safe and our exchange hack history database before depositing anything.

Regulation and Availability: Where Each Platform Can Serve You

What changed for EEA users on July 1, 2026

MiCA's transitional regime expired on July 1, 2026, and from that date new sign-ups, deposits, new spot orders and Earn products stopped for EEA residents, while withdrawals stayed open with no announced deadline.
MEXC is not the replacement for an EEA reader in that position.
If you are an EEA resident, look up the legal entity in the official ESMA MiCA register and pick from the authorised list, because nothing in this comparison overrides that.

US and UK readers

Neither Binance.com nor MEXC serves US residents, and this paragraph is informational rather than a recommendation to open an account.
Binance.US is a separate company and the only Binance-branded route for US residents, and it moved to 0% maker and 0.02% taker on spot pairs in April 2026, which makes the US shortlist Binance.US, Coinbase and Kraken on cost and licensing.
UK residents are named as a prohibited jurisdiction by MEXC and face restrictions on Binance.com, so a locally licensed venue is the route there too.

Japan

Where Binance Is Still the Better Choice

Nothing in this comparison changes what made Binance the largest exchange, and if any of the following is why you are there, staying is the right call.
  • Order-book depth on major pairs: Binance is the largest spot venue by reported volume on CoinGecko, and on large orders that depth is worth more than any fee difference discussed here.
  • Product range: spot, margin, USDT-M, USDC-M and coin-M futures, options, Launchpool, card and payments in one account, where MEXC has no options desk.
  • Fiat coverage: more currencies and more local payment rails than MEXC's third-party on-ramps and P2P offer.
  • Predictable futures pricing: 0.0200% maker and 0.0500% taker on every USDT-M pair, where MEXC's rate varies by contract and can exceed it.
  • Investor protection on new tokens: the 90-day risk quiz on tagged high-risk tokens is a guardrail MEXC's faster pipeline does not have.
  • Reimbursement record: the SAFU fund and full reimbursement after historic incidents are the strongest trust datapoints in this comparison.

If the first row is you, open a MEXC account, move a test amount first, and check the fee on your specific pair before sizing up.
Plenty of traders run both, keeping size on Binance for majors and using MEXC as the low-fee venue for early listings, and nothing in this comparison argues against that.

How to Move From Binance to MEXC in Three Steps

Step 1: close positions and unwind locked products first.
Locked Earn, staking and Launchpool positions cannot be withdrawn while locked, so unwind them before you plan the transfer and check whether early redemption forfeits accrued rewards.
Step 2: match the network on both sides.
Open the deposit page on MEXC first, copy the address and network from there, and choose the sending network on Binance to match it exactly.
Assets including XRP, XLM, EOS and TON require a memo or tag alongside the address, and omitting it usually means a manual recovery request rather than an instant credit.
Step 3: send a test transaction, then the rest.
Send the minimum permitted amount first, confirm it credits, and only then move the balance.
Our step-by-step guide to transferring USDT from Binance to MEXC walks through the screens on both sides, and new accounts should read the MEXC KYC requirements and the withdrawal process before funding an account.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is MEXC cheaper than Binance?
On published standard rates, yes: 0.0000% maker and 0.0500% taker on spot against Binance's 0.100% on both sides, and 0.020% taker on BTCUSDT perpetuals against 0.0500%.
Thin MEXC contracts can run up to 0.100% taker, so check your specific pair on the fee page.

Is MEXC safer than Binance?
Both publish monthly proof of reserves, and Binance has the longer public record of reimbursing incidents through its SAFU fund.
Neither is MiCA-authorised today, so treat both as trading venues rather than vaults and keep idle balances off-exchange.

Which lists more coins, MEXC or Binance?
CoinGecko tracks 1,633 assets on MEXC and 481 on Binance, and MEXC's own fee page lists more than 2,080 spot pairs.
Binance's shorter list comes with deeper order books on the pairs it does carry.

Can I use MEXC if Binance stopped serving my country?
Only if your country is not on MEXC's prohibited list, which names the US, UK, Canada, Singapore and Hong Kong among others.
EEA residents should choose from ESMA's register of authorised providers, which does not include MEXC.

Does MEXC require KYC like Binance?
MEXC requires identity verification for full functionality, with limited crypto-only use at lower withdrawal limits before verification.
Our MEXC KYC guide sets out the current tiers and limits.

How do I move assets from Binance to MEXC?
Unwind locked Earn positions, copy the deposit address and network from MEXC first, and send a small test amount before the balance.
Our Binance to MEXC transfer guide covers both screens.

Which is better for futures, MEXC or Binance?
MEXC is cheaper on BTC and ETH perpetuals at 0.020% and 0.010% taker against 0.0500%, and lists more than 1,040 USDT-M contracts.
Binance offers options, uniform pricing and the largest open interest, and its 0.0500% beats MEXC's thinnest pairs.

Risk and Compliance Notice

Crypto assets are volatile and you can lose the full value of your investment.
Leveraged products such as perpetual futures magnify both gains and losses and can result in losses exceeding your initial margin.
Newly listed and low-capitalisation tokens carry additional liquidity and volatility risk, and thin order books can move sharply against a modest position.
MEXC is not authorised under MiCA and appears on ESMA's register of non-compliant entities, and it appears on Japan's Financial Services Agency list of unregistered operators.
MEXC does not serve residents of the United States or the United Kingdom, and its full list of prohibited jurisdictions is set out in its User Agreement.
Fee rates vary by region and by promotional period, so the rate shown in your own account is the one that applies.
Nothing here is investment, legal or tax advice, and fee rates change without notice.
