Historians speculate Melania's ties to Jeffrey Epstein could harm Trump now more than ever

Historians Sidney Blumenthal and Sean Wilentz discussed First Lady Melania Trump's recent press conference denying ties to Jeffrey Epstein on the podcast "The Court of History," speculating she must know damaging information is about to be revealed.

Wilentz questioned why Melania felt compelled to deny Epstein connections unprompted, suggesting "something's bugging her" and that she "knows that something's coming."

He noted President Donald Trump has "blown up the Middle East in order to avoid the Epstein files," and questioned why Melania would surface the topic now.

Blumenthal compared her defensive posture to a scene in "The Godfather" where a character denies the mafia's existence, stating "instead of singing, she's clamming up." Blumenthal highlighted that Melania's past connects to Trump's attempt to purchase a modeling firm with Epstein and another business partner, with details of that relationship remaining unknown.

The analysts suggested the matter could pose serious political consequences for the president.
