Pudgy Penguins has announced it is halting development of its mobile game Pudgy Party, just under a year after launch. The team said it will move its gaming resources to Pudgy World, a browser-based game it now calls its flagship product.
The decision was shared on X over the weekend. The team called it a difficult choice but said Pudgy World offers better potential for growth and bringing new users into the ecosystem.

Pudgy Party launched in August 2025 and passed 500,000 downloads on Google Play. Total downloads across platforms exceeded 1 million before the shutdown was announced.
Pudgy Penguins has been expanding beyond NFTs into toys, licensing, entertainment, and gaming. Consolidating around one game appears to be part of that broader strategy.
The project described Pudgy World as offering greater scalability. It will now serve as the single gaming product representing the Pudgy Penguins brand.
Pudgy Party is not the only Web3 game shutting down. Fishing Frenzy and its developer, Uncharted, announced on Monday they are also ceasing operations.
Uncharted said it spent the past year testing different approaches and audiences. It found no path forward that gave the team enough confidence to keep going.
Fishing Frenzy will shut down its servers on June 25 at 2:00 am UTC. The project has already stopped selling USDC packages.
Its FISH token has been made spend-only and is no longer tradable. The team said remaining USDC in the FISH/USDC liquidity pool will be redistributed to community members and stakers.
The NFT market has seen some recent movement. Total NFT market capitalization climbed to nearly $1.5 billion on Monday, up from over $1.3 billion on Friday, according to CoinGecko.
Despite the uptick, that figure remains far below the market’s 2022 peak of over $17 billion.
Binance also recently announced it will end NFT support on its exchange and shift that service to its wallet product, another sign of changing conditions in the space.
Pudgy Penguins is pushing ahead with its broader plans despite the game shutdown. The project continues to operate across toys, licensing, and entertainment alongside its NFT roots.
The move to focus on Pudgy World suggests the team believes a browser-based experience is a better fit for where the project is heading.
