The data analytics giant has encountered significant headwinds throughout 2026. Following three consecutive years of substantial returns, shares have tumbled approximately 20% year-to-date and currently sit 31% below the all-time closing peak of $207.18 reached on November 3, 2025.

Palantir Technologies Inc., PLTR

Shares gained 1% on Friday, closing at $143.09, offering modest relief after Thursday’s sharp 7.2% decline that accompanied a widespread selloff across the software sector following disappointing earnings from industry peers.

The weekly performance showed a 2.3% loss.

Market participants have focused on several pressure points: elevated valuation multiples, global political instability, and concerns that emerging AI competitors might disrupt Palantir’s established market position. Notable short seller Michael Burry intensified these worries earlier this month with claims that Anthropic is significantly eroding Palantir’s market share.

Additional controversy emerged surrounding the Swiss National Bank this week. Activist groups from Minneapolis pushed the SNB to divest its $1.1 billion position in PLTR shares, highlighting Palantir’s involvement with U.S. immigration enforcement operations. SNB chairman Martin Schlegel rebuffed the criticism, explaining that the institution’s foreign-currency holdings serve monetary policy objectives.

Yet despite these headwinds, multiple Wall Street analysts maintain optimistic outlooks.

Rosenblatt Maintains $200 Price Objective

Rosenblatt analyst John McPeake reaffirmed his Buy recommendation and retained the $200 price objective on Friday. His thesis centers on Palantir standing among a select group of software providers experiencing genuine AI-powered revenue expansion, rather than merely offering superficial AI features.

Across the trailing four quarters, Palantir delivered year-over-year revenue acceleration of 70%, 63%, 48%, and 39%. Street estimates for Q1 2026 anticipate revenue surging 74% to $1.54 billion, accompanied by earnings per share of $0.28 — representing 115% annual expansion.

McPeake forecasts the Q4 momentum extending through the first half of 2026, projecting government segment revenue advancing 58% this year and 53% in 2027 — outpacing consensus estimates of 45% for 2026 and 32% for 2027.

Midweek, Palantir disclosed a $300 million contract with the U.S. Department of Agriculture to bolster the National Farm Security Action Plan initiative.

Pentagon Budget Provides Long-Term Revenue Clarity

William Blair analyst Louie DiPalma reaffirmed his Buy stance, highlighting the Department of Defense’s budget submission, which earmarks $2.3 billion specifically for Palantir’s Maven Smart System infrastructure.

DiPalma noted this allocation offers multi-year revenue transparency compared to his estimated $500 million-plus current run-rate for the Maven program. He acknowledged that while PLTR appears richly valued on revenue multiples, the valuation becomes “reasonable” when assessed through a free cash flow lens.

D.A. Davidson’s Gil Luria maintained his Hold rating — not based on operational concerns, but strictly valuation considerations. He revealed that a recent partner webinar actually strengthened his conviction regarding the company’s competitive advantages, observing that platform demand has accelerated since the beginning of the “AI craze.”

The Street’s collective outlook approaching May 4 earnings: Moderate Buy, with a consensus price target of $194.06 — representing approximately 36% appreciation from present levels.
