Apple and NVIDIA Stocks Come to Solana. What Is Different?

Apple and NVIDIA can now be traded in tokenized form through the Solana network. The initial launch also covers several other U.S. stocks, including Microsoft, Tesla, Amazon, Meta, Netflix, and Alphabet.

The phrase “Apple and NVIDIA stocks have come to Solana” can create the impression that the companies moved their official shares from U.S. exchanges onto a blockchain. That is not what happened. Apple and NVIDIA have not transferred their entire shareholder registers to Solana, and Solana has not replaced a stock exchange or central securities depository.

The product launched by Securitize uses a security-entitlement structure. Each token is described as being backed one for one by an underlying share and designed to preserve certain economic and ownership-related rights. Trading takes place through regulated broker-dealer infrastructure, while Solana provides the on-chain record and transaction layer.

This structure is different from a synthetic token that merely tracks a stock’s price. It is still not necessarily identical to holding an Apple or NVIDIA share through a conventional brokerage account. The legal claim, custody arrangement, liquidity, trading hours, transferability, and corporate-action process may differ.

What Was Actually Launched?

Securitize announced Securitize Stocks on October 8, 2026. The product gives eligible investors access to tokenized U.S. securities, with Solana selected as the initial blockchain.

The first group includes security entitlements linked to:

  • Apple, or AAPL

  • NVIDIA, or NVDA

  • Microsoft, or MSFT

  • Alphabet, or GOOG

  • Tesla, or TSLA

  • Meta, or META

  • Amazon, or AMZN

  • Netflix, or NFLX

  • Circle, or CRCL

  • Strategy, or MSTR

  • Palantir, or PLTR

  • SpaceX Class A, or SPCX

Securitize states that each token is backed one for one by an underlying share. The product uses a convertible entitlement token, or CET, structure rather than a perpetual contract, CFD, or synthetic instrument that only reproduces price exposure.

Holders receive a security entitlement under Article 8 of the U.S. Uniform Commercial Code. According to the company, the structure is intended to preserve applicable economic benefits, including dividends and voting rights where the underlying share class carries those rights.

Token holders are not automatically registered shareholders on Apple’s or NVIDIA’s corporate books. Securitize’s announcement says holders become registered shareholders only if the entitlement is converted, where conversion is available and all applicable requirements are satisfied.

How Are These Tokens Different from Ordinary Shares?

The value of a tokenized stock still depends on its underlying equity. A major move in NVIDIA shares should be reflected in the corresponding token, subject to liquidity, spreads, fees, and trading conditions.

The differences lie in how ownership is represented, where transactions are recorded, how settlement works, and how investor rights are administered.

A. The Form of Ownership

Investors buying shares through a traditional broker normally obtain beneficial ownership recorded through brokers, custodians, clearing systems, and securities depositories. Retail investors are not always listed directly on the issuer’s shareholder register, but their rights are processed through established securities infrastructure.

A Securitize Stocks holder receives a security entitlement represented on-chain. The underlying equity remains within a regulated custody and securities structure, while the token serves as a digital record of the holder’s entitlement.

The token is therefore not a free-standing copy of the stock. Its validity depends on the legal and operational relationship among the token, underlying shares, broker-dealer, custodian, and transfer agent.

B. Transaction Infrastructure

Conventional Apple and NVIDIA shares trade through exchanges, brokers, clearing houses, and securities depositories. Tokenized stocks add blockchain and smart-contract infrastructure to that chain.

Solana records token transfers, while USDC is used for transaction settlement. Investors must still complete onboarding, identity verification, anti-money-laundering checks, and jurisdictional eligibility reviews.

Blockchain may accelerate the transfer of assets and settlement funds, but it does not eliminate the role of brokers, custodians, market makers, or regulators. The traditional and on-chain systems operate together.

C. Trading Hours and Liquidity

Trading was introduced during extended U.S. market hours rather than immediately operating around the clock. Securitize says 24/7 access is a future objective, including through digital venues that remain subject to launch, regulatory, and operational requirements.

Longer trading hours do not automatically provide deeper liquidity. When the main U.S. exchanges are closed, the underlying stock does not have continuous price discovery through its regular session. Tokenized trading may therefore experience lower volume, wider spreads, and temporary price differences.

Investors should distinguish between:

  • Longer access, which refers to the ability to submit trades outside regular exchange hours.

  • Continuous liquidity, which requires sufficient buyers and sellers at reasonable bid-ask spreads.

A product can offer extended access while still being expensive or difficult to trade at certain times.

D. Dividends and Voting Rights

Securitize states that the security-entitlement structure preserves applicable dividends and voting rights. The practical delivery of those rights still depends on the offering documents, record dates, platform procedures, and corporate-action infrastructure.

Before investing, users should confirm:

  • How dividends are distributed and in which currency or asset.

  • Which record date determines eligibility.

  • Whether administrative costs reduce distributions.

  • How voting instructions are collected.

  • How stock splits, mergers, spin-offs, and rights issues are processed.

  • Whether tokens must remain in a specific wallet or account.

A legal entitlement does not necessarily mean that every corporate action will be as simple as it is within a conventional brokerage account.

How Does a Solana Transaction Work?

The process begins when an investor creates an account and completes KYC. The platform then determines eligibility based on residence, account status, securities laws, sanctions requirements, and other restrictions.

An approved investor connects a Solana wallet and provides USDC. A purchase order is then routed through the broker-dealer platform and its supporting liquidity infrastructure.

A simplified transaction involves the following layers:

  1. The investor submits a purchase order.

  2. A market maker provides an executable price.

  3. USDC is used for settlement.

  4. A token representing the security entitlement moves to the investor’s account or wallet.

  5. The underlying share remains in the structure supporting the one-for-one backing.

  6. The entitlement transfer is recorded on Solana.

Blockchain speed can shorten the movement of assets and funds. It cannot remove all settlement risks because execution still depends on smart contracts, wallets, the trading platform, market makers, custodians, and the legal connection to the underlying shares.

Why Use Solana?

Solana offers relatively low transaction fees and high processing capacity. Those characteristics can be useful when financial assets require rapid settlement, frequent transfers, and stablecoin integration.

USDC is also issued natively on Solana. Keeping both the settlement asset and tokenized securities on the same network can reduce operational fragmentation.

The technical benefit should not be confused with an investment conclusion about SOL. More tokenized securities can expand Solana’s use cases, but that alone does not prove that the price of SOL will rise.

Solana transaction fees are paid in SOL, but the gas required for each transaction is small. A meaningful economic effect would require large and sustained activity that materially changes network fees, staking demand, liquidity, or the broader Solana ecosystem.

Is This the Same as a Synthetic Stock Token?

No. A synthetic token normally provides price exposure without a direct one-for-one claim on shares held in custody. Its value may rely on derivatives, collateral pools, price oracles, or an issuer’s contractual obligation.

Securitize Stocks are described as having underlying shares backing the tokens one for one. That creates a closer legal and economic relationship with the actual equity.

One-for-one backing does not make the product risk-free. Investors should still determine:

  • Who legally holds the underlying shares.

  • Which entity provides custody.

  • How the reserve is verified.

  • Whether the token can be redeemed or converted.

  • What rights apply if an intermediary fails.

  • Whether transfers to external wallets are supported.

  • Who is responsible for corporate-action errors.

Backing explains the reserve structure. It does not guarantee liquidity, cybersecurity, wallet recovery, or a specific resale price.

The Main Risks

Liquidity and Spread Risk

Tokenized-stock volume may be substantially lower than the volume of the underlying equity. Large orders can move the token price, particularly outside regular U.S. trading hours.

Intermediary and Structural Risk

The investor’s claim involves Securitize, a broker-dealer, custodians, market makers, transfer agents, and blockchain infrastructure. A disruption at any layer may affect trading or access to the asset.

Wallet and Smart-Contract Risk

Lost wallet access, incorrect transfers, smart-contract vulnerabilities, phishing, or malicious applications can cause losses. A token’s status as a security does not remove the technical risks of holding an on-chain asset.

Off-Hours Pricing Risk

Token prices may move while the main equity market is closed. When regular trading resumes, the underlying share may open with a price gap, forcing the token to adjust quickly.

Jurisdiction and Tax Risk

The product is available only to eligible investors in permitted jurisdictions. A global launch does not mean every Indonesian resident can automatically participate.

Tax treatment may also differ from ordinary crypto transactions. Indonesian investors may need to consider the instrument’s legal classification, dividend income, capital gains, overseas-asset reporting, and currency conversion.

What Does It Mean for Indonesian Investors?

Tokenized stocks can narrow the technical gap between digital assets and global equities. Investors may use a blockchain wallet and stablecoin to obtain exposure to a public company without leaving on-chain infrastructure entirely.

Easier access does not make the product simpler. Investors must understand both the underlying stock risk and the additional tokenization layer.

Before buying tokenized AAPL or NVDA, check:

  • Whether Indonesia is a permitted jurisdiction.

  • The exact legal entitlement received.

  • The actual trading hours.

  • Volume, market depth, and bid-ask spread.

  • Trading, settlement, and withdrawal costs.

  • Dividend and voting procedures.

  • Conversion into directly registered shares.

  • Wallet, smart-contract, custodian, and platform risks.

  • Indonesian tax and reporting obligations.

What Should Investors Monitor Next?

The success of tokenized stocks should not be measured only by the number of available tickers. More meaningful indicators include transaction volume, market depth, spreads, active investors, corporate-action processing, and evidence that the underlying backing remains consistent.

The planned 24/7 model should also be assessed only after it becomes operational. Investors need to see whether meaningful liquidity remains available when traditional exchanges are closed or whether the additional hours produce thin trading and wider spreads.

Apple and NVIDIA have not become crypto assets. Their underlying shares remain U.S. securities. Solana provides a new rail for representing, transferring, and settling entitlements linked to those securities.

That infrastructure could broaden access and reduce settlement friction. Its practical value will ultimately depend on legal enforceability, liquidity quality, custody arrangements, costs, operational resilience, and whether investors can reliably exercise the rights associated with the underlying shares.
